SGX Board Lot Changes

Other Important Notes

Board lot sizes once revised lower for specific counters will remain at the lower sizes for the same counters

They will not re-adjust to a higher lot size even if prices trend lower.

Consistent across currencies

For dual-currency counters, the primary traded currency determines the board lot size.

Applies to new listings

New listings priced above the threshold will be assigned the reduced board lot from the first day of listing.

Counters are compared against price thresholds in the same currency

Eg. Singapore dollar traded currency compared to S$10 and S$100 while US dollar traded currency compared to US$10 and US$100.

No change to your holdings

The number of shares you own remains the same.

Same stock code

Your stock continues to trade under the existing code, in the new lot size.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a board lot and what is changing?

A board lot is the minimum number of shares you need to buy or sell in a single trade (i.e., in a multiple of 10 or 100 units).

Board lot sizes will be reduced for selected securities (ie. ordinary shares, REITs, business trusts and company warrants), lowering the minimum investment required and enabling investors to access higher-priced stocks with less capital.

How do I find out which stocks are impacted?

View the list of eligible stocks with adjusted board lot sizes here.

View the board lot sizes for individual securities on the Securities Prices page by selecting the "Board Lot" filter on SGX's Securities Prices page here.

Is this a one-off reduction?

It's not a once-off reduction. After the initial 5 Oct 2026 implementation for the initial batch of securities, the board lot sizes will be reviewed every calendar quarter to determine which securities qualify for a reduction in board lot size. The next implementation will be announced in January 2027 and implementation in February 2027.

What happens when a change is implemented?

Any changes will be announced within the first five trading days after the end of each quarter, with implementation within the first five trading days of the second month after the quarter.

What do investors need to do if the stock they are invested in changes its board lot structure? Will the number of shares I own change after a board lot change?

No action is required on the investor's part. The change is only applicable when new trades (buy or sell) are made, when there is the option to trade in smaller sizes. No, a board lot change does not affect the number of shares you own.

Will there be a new stock code added?

No new stock codes will be created. The existing stock code will be retained and from the effective date will trade in multiples of the new board lot.

Will board lot size revert if the share price falls?

Board lot sizes will not revert. Once reduced, the board lot will remain unchanged, even if the price subsequently falls.

How do I transfer my shares bought under this initiative?
No different from existing process. Share transfer does not utilise board lots, rather shares are transferred in 1 share minimum.
What is the currency used for the price threshold?

The security's traded currency is used for the price threshold. For securities traded in SGD, S$10 is used as the price threshold. For securities traded in USD, US$10 is used as the price threshold.

Is this initiative entitled to the corporate actions declared by the Company? How can I participate in the corporate action and how do I receive my dividends?

Yes, investors remain fully entitled to the corporate actions declared by the company, regardless of the board lot size of their holdings.

Investors can continue to participate in corporate actions and receive entitlements through established processes:

  • Participate in voluntary corporate actions through existing channels (e.g. SGX Investor Portal or by mail)
  • Entitlements, including dividends, will be distributed through established processes such as the Direct Crediting Service (DCS) for SGD payments and the Currency Conversion Service for foreign currency payments
What are some other important things to note?

Consistency across currencies. For dual-currency counters, the primary traded currency determines the board lot size. The primary traded currency can be identified here.

Applies to new listings. New listings priced above the threshold will be assigned the reduced board lot from the first day of listing, unless otherwise informed.

Do I need to pay more?

SGX clearing and trading fees are a percentage of value traded, thus the fee would be the same rate at larger versus smaller traded values. Investors are advised to take into account total fees charged including exchange and brokerage fees which may vary based on the broker the investor trades through.
